Nate Cassel
Senior Consultant
Nate Cassel serves as a Senior Consultant for PlanPILOT and has been working with qualified retirement plans for over 30 years. He brings his in-depth experience and knowledge to the firm, focusing on the retirement needs of PlanPILOT’s academic clients, specifically higher education and private K-12 institutions. His key areas of expertise include plan design, investment oversight, and plan governance. In addition, Nate spearheads a number of initiatives for PlanPILOT to support our mission to be 403(b) / retirement plan thought leaders.
Before joining the PlanPILOT team, Nate began his career as an actuary and retirement plan consultant with The Wyatt Company (now Willis Towers Watson). After ten years as a consultant, Nate moved to the plan sponsor side of the business as Director of Corporate Benefits for catalog company Spiegel, Inc. During his seven years at Spiegel, he led the company in revamping and updating their defined contribution and defined benefit plans. Most recently, before joining PlanPILOT, Nate spent over ten years, creating and selling 401(k) investments at First Trust Portfolios.
Nate holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Economics from Wheaton College. When he’s not creating better retirement plan solutions for clients, Nate is smoking protein in his back yard, or otherwise preparing a meal for friends, family, or hungry college and high school friends of his four kids.
