Bill Karsten
Director of Consultants
Bill Karsten is a Senior Consultant, with over 24 years of financial industry experience, assisting financial officers and business professionals with managing and reducing risks inherent in their organizations. His key areas of expertise include plan governance, investment oversight and participant education, exclusively serving private universities and colleges. Additionally, Bill assists his clients with investment recommendations and related participant communication and education aimed at improving outcomes for their faculty and staff.
Prior to joining PlanPILOT, Bill managed the retirement plan services division for a private wealth firm based in the Chicago area. Earlier in his career, he has managed commercial banking divisions for Chicago area banks, partnering with clients to help mitigate their business and financial risks. His responsibilities included serving on several executive committees focused on managing the bank’s business and financial risks, and developing formal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
